Converting To Media-Convert

Perhaps you are familiar with the Serenity Prayer:

God,
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.

I cannot claim for myself, let alone promise to impart to others, the virtues of serenity, courage, and wisdom. I can, however, offer an online gizmo that appears to be pretty darn handy for changing things, as long as those things are file formats.

Media-convert can, for example, convert an image or document into a PDF file, reformat an Open Office file to be read in Microsoft Office, compress a Wav sound file into an MP3 into a Nokia ringtone, import an Access database into an Excel spreadsheet, and rearrange a PDF into a SWF Flash file.

Advantages:

  1. One mechanism performs almost any conversion
  2. That mechanism is online so there are none of the hassles of installing software, no conflicts with other programs, and no risks of spyware or viruses
  3. Using the site is free, gratis, and no-cost

Disadvantages:

  1. As far as I can determine, Media-convert cannot change water to wine, spin hair into gold, or make a silk purse from a sow’s ear

Using Media-convert is simple. Locate the original file for Media-convert (which automatically detects that file’s format) indicate the new format desired from the dropdown list, and click “convert.”

This is a site to be bookmarked for use as needed. It can be found at ~ Media-convert.com ~
