Addendum: Recently Published Online & Worth Reading
For Whom the Shill Toils
by Paul Devlin

Hemingway’s lost work for Ringling Bros. and Ballantine Ale. Part of Slate’s Fall Fiction week, this article went online after I had written yesterday’s post and, consequently, was not included.
The nidus of the piece is a new book about Hemingway, Hemingway and the Mechanism of Fame: Statements, Public Letters, Introductions, Forewords, Prefaces, Blurbs, Reviews, and Endorsements, the content of which seems to be exhaustively cataloged in the title.
The book review portion is interesting on its own, but the discussion of Hemingway’s straightforward approach to publicity is even more intriguing.
