A Tale of Several Cities by Julia Vitullo-Martin (Originally published in the subscription-required WSJ October 20, 2006 but now available from other sources). A provocative piece that speculates on the historic reasons, in the author’s opinion, for the contrasting characteristics of major U.S. cities, especially Philadelphia and Boston.
