Alternative Version Of “It’s A Wonderful Life
Fulfill your holiday obligation to view “It’s A Wonderful Life” sfficiently and nearly painlessly. This remake has two insurmountable advantages over the original: (1) the entire production requires 30 seconds to watch & (2) it’s enacted by bunnies.
Go to The 30-Second Bunnies Theatre Library to find not only “It’s A Wonderful Life” but also “A Christmas Story” and “Christmas Vacation” (also 30 second, all Bunny spectaculars) as well as non-holiday offerings.
Festivus Fundamentals
My email indicates that there are flocks of Festivus Followers out there but also a number of folks who are Festivus vigins.
While there is a plethora of Festivus info-sources, including a book, Festivus, The Holiday For The Rest Of Us, a longish New York Times Article, Fooey to the World: Festivus Is Come (By Allen Salkin, December 19, 2004), and a Festivus Appreciation Website, my personal preference is the Wikipedia Festivus Article, which includes not only the story of the holiday’s origins in “The Strike” episode of the Seinfeld, and an explanation of each of the fundamental elements of Festivus (The Festivus Pole, The Festivus Dinner, The Airing of Grievances, The Feats of Strength, and The Festivus Miracle) but also such highlights as
- Links to “How to make a Festivus Pole” - Short documentary on Milwaukee company that makes Festivus poles
- A entry for “Ben and Jerry’s Festivus flavored ice cream” (”mostly gingerbread flavoring”)
- An account of “Oh Festivus” (also known as “The Festivus Song”), which was “first sung in Dallas, Texas, bars and taverns in the 2004-2005 holiday season. It is set to the tune of O Canada.”
- An impressive list of municipalities, organizations, schools, government agencies, and other entities that recognize Festivus.
