Indian Princess Statue At Historic Village Hall

Princess SpringSummer

This photo, which I snapped a couple of years ago from my car while stopped at a red light, captures in pixels the statuary representation of an Indian Princess from the Incredibly Kitsch Tribe that mysteriously appears on the grounds of the “Historic Village Hall” of a local municipality every Spring only to disappear again before the first snowfall.

This seasonal pattern suggests that the above pictured maiden shares the bloodlines of the auspiciously named Princess Summerfall Winterspring from the Howdy Doody Show.

And the upward gazing,knee-raised posture of the local statue certainly calls to mind the recently retired Chief Illiniwek, the subject of a previous post, Mascot Madness, Part II.

I came across this photo in searching for the preceding Chief Illiniwek graphic, and it strikes me as so - well, perfect that I’ve included it without even attempting to create a tortuous connection to the topic of this post. The caption is “Chief Illiniwek bids farewell to the first Illini plane flight.” It’s difficult to see at this small scale, but careful inspection shows the pilot has his hand positioned outside the cockpit window raised with palm forward in the traditional movie Indian “How” gesture.

Truth In Blogging Department
The graphic depicting the Indian Princess statue seen atop this post is an altered version of the original. At the last minute this morning, I performed a quickie Photoshop deletion of a large white flagpole that was directly behind and distracted attention from the statue. The other pictures, believe it or not, are just as God made them.
