What Kind Of Guy Is This?
On March 20, 2006 (3,229 blog-years ago), in his first Heck Of A Guy appearance, Mr. Science was introduced thusly:
Even that seemingly extensive description, however, is incomplete. Mr. Science is also, for example, a superb raconteur, a proficient cruciverbalist, and an adept identifier of flora and fauna.
In ensuing posts, Mr. Science has been responsible for introducing to the Show & Tell that is the Heck Of A Guy blog Sandhill Cranes, Texas Bluebonnets, Ziploc Omelettes, and Kinky Friedman, among other delights.
Long-time readers may also recall that he played a crucial role in the Chocolodka posting and, of course, has been and, as far as I know, continues to serve as escort of Hippie With Tiara.

What’s In A Name?
He has, alas, suffered from a blogonym too cavalierly chosen on my part. “Mr. Science,” as one might guess, is an extraordinarily popular appellation. While Gertrude Stein may have been correct that “”Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose,” it is at least convenient and perhaps essential these days that one can distinguish one rose from another in a Google search.
While the Heck Of A Guy-sponsored Mr. Science has risen to the challenge, fighting his way through the madding crowd, for example, to win a place of honor for 1heckofaguy.com as the seventh entry (top row, right column on first page) of the results page of the Google Image search for “Kinky Science,†no mean feat given the internet’s preferential supersaturation with science sites and pornography of every variety, it seemed downright ungrateful to hide this particular candle amongst all the pretenders to the Mr. Science title.

Name That Guy
Consequently, the artist previously known as “Mr. Science” will be known henceforth and forevermore (subject to the second-by-second fluctuations of my whims or until someone comes up with a better idea) by the far easier to track “Lord of Leisure.”
The Lord of Leisure Gallery Opening
The timing of this name enhancement is linked to the official opening of the Lord of Leisure Gallery in this wing of the Heck Of A Guy blog.
I have prevailed upon the Lord of Leisure to officially post, on an occasional basis, a selection of his photos.
This his decision may have been influenced by my history of displaying his photos on this blog without bothering with niceties such as obtaining permission diminishes my pleasure in this arrangement not a whit.
And, I think viewers will find it a pleasure as well.
The first official posting of The Lord of Leisure Gallery is available at Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse, Acadia National Park

Great photo at Acadia – which is really a beautiful park.
Wish the shirt had worked its charm… I would have voted for Kinky if I were in Texas!
