April Heck Of A Guy Stats Hit New Highes - WhoopDeeDoo Declared
City Fears Celebratory Rioting
The web stats for the Heck Of A Guy blog did hit new peaks in April 2007, approximately doubling previous monthly performances.
While it appears April would have shown a small incremental improvement without the Leonard Cohen Presents Anjani Warsaw Concert posts,1 these entries were clearly the key to the size of the increase in viewers.
While I am joyous about the juiced numbers of readers, it may not surprise to those who know me to discover that my immediate response was Damn, these numbers are going to make next month’s stats look rotten

How Weird Is That?
In addition to the Warsaw Concert posts, some old but apparently not forgotten posts also scored especially high in April. I have no explanation why the first two have enjoyed this recent surge in popularity.
-
Class Of 2007: 7 Nov 2006 - The Jostensopoly post
Heckofa Haka, Inc.: 22 Nov 2006 - The Haka dancers rental service post
Nude! Nude! Nude! Teachers! Teachers! Teachers!: 23 June 2006 - Post commenting on the viewer who entered “Nude Teachers” in a search engine and somehow got directed to my especially innocuous, incredibly wordy dissertation criticizing the custom of teachers purchasing school supplies for students with their own money. My sardonic title has been and continues to be a big attraction for certain visitors although, oddly, none of them seem to stick around more than 30 seconds or so.

Image search engines, especially Google, were also strong contributors in April.
Those Responsible Will Be Tracked Down And Thanked
Apolinary POlek alerted readers to the availability of the concert’s broadcast and provided links to photos and a recording of the pre-concert interview with Anjani and Cohen on the Trójka Radio site; he also graciously shared his recordings of the concert itself.
Links from Leonard Cohen and Anjani sites, especially LeonardCohenFiles, brought in much of the new traffic as did a number of Polish sites.
Of course, adding referral links increases readership only if the previous referral inks remain loyal. Especially prominent among those bringing in visitors were View From A Farmhouse Window, MindSpinner, Blogger On The Cast Iron Balcony, and Squirrely Jedi. McHenry County Blog also referred a substantial number of readers here.
The Leonard Cohen and Anjani Response [Equivalent]
[Note: Because of the important role Leonard Cohen and Anjani played in the record-setting Heck Of A Guy performance in April, I was naturally interested in their reactions but abhorred hassling them with a request for yet another interview. Consequently, I have converted my intimate knowledge of their personality profiles, intrapsychic dynamics, and professional aspirations into the interview that inevitably would have taken place.]
DrHGuy: So, Leonard, what was your first response when you heard about the April stats for Heck Of A Guy?
DrHGuy: That’s quite flattering; I’m surprised you even knew about these numbers.
DrHGuy: And Anjani, what do you think of the quality of the blog during April?
DrHGuy: By the way, I’ve always wondered what you told Leonard about our emails.
DrHGuy: Well, that’s all in the past. I’m sure he’s forgotten all about it by now.
DrHGuy: Oh. I see. I’m sorry to close things off but I see our time’s up.
