The Hillary Clinton Quest Song Request

Not long after posting Music Suitable For The Launch Of A Personal Quest, I fortuitously found this urgent request for help in selecting a campaign song at Hillary Clinton’s Web Site.

Mere coincidence?

Well, of course it is, but it’s a relatively nifty chunk of serendipity.

So, go to Hillary Clinton’s Campaign Song to vote.

Don’t feel restricted to the recommendations listed;1 write-ins are accepted.

Of course, I’m partial to Film Caravan from The Stunt Man Soundtrack, but the possibilities are alluring, especially if one is in an anti-Hillary mode2 or if one just likes to make trouble.3 This off the cuff list is only indicative of the potential mass of musical messages available:

  • I’m Your Man – Leonard Cohen
  • First We Take Manhattan – Leonard Cohen
  • Big Bad Bill (Is Sweet William Now) – Ry Cooder
  • Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want – The Smiths
  • Native New Yorker – Odyssey (Oops) Chicago Is My Kind Of Town – Sinatra
  • I’m a Loser – Beatles
  • Give It Up – ZZ Top
  • A Good-Hearted Woman (In Love With A Good-Timing Man) – Waylon Jennings
  • I’ve Got Friends In Low Places – Garth Brooks
  • The Bitch is Back – Elton John4
  • (You’re My) Favorite Waste Of Time – Bette Midler

  1. For one thing, I’m miffed that the list includes the Smash Mouth cover of I’m A Believer instead of the original version by The Monkees
  2. I actually have a thing for Hillary, but then I’ve always been attracted to women who I’m pretty sure could hurt me
  3. Bingo
  4. OK, that was too easy. Sorry.
