Poults On Parade
Readers may recall from A Sunday Visit To The Heck of a House Zoological Gardens that I first spotted a wild turkey hen and her poults sauntering across our back lawn and into the woods beyond nearly a month ago. I have since seen them perhaps four or five times.
Yesterday, however, was the first time I managed to grab my camera and hobble to the window to capture them on film.
The video was taken just after sunrise with an overcast sky. The turkeys were approximately 30 yards away. The clip (a total of 43 seconds long) opens with the hen headed into the woods. Watching carefully, the first poult can be seen closely following the hen into the thicket. Behind them a small distance are two other poults that also run into the same thicket. The video then shows the same sequence in slow motion.
