The Lone Aspen
The Lord of Leisure1 Photo Gallery
Lord of Leisure writes:
This is another shot from the recent series using backlighting to emphasize the yellow of the aspens. The lone aspen in the photo was located close to the trail at the Maroon Bells near Aspen, Colorado. I isolated it with a short telephoto among the evergreens and waited for the sun come out of the clouds and spotlight it.
Footnotes
- Lord of Leisure was previously known in these posts as Mr. Science. Both Lord of Leisure and Mr Science spend most of their time disguised as Neil Ellis, mild-mannered, retired teacher at a great suburban school system, who can identify a bird by its call, complete the New York Times Friday Crossword in ink, and snap a heck of a photo. ~back~

Beautiful. This reminds me of the cover shot for the hardback edition of John Vaillant’s book The Golden Spruce.
