The Lord of Leisure1 Photo Gallery
Lord of Leisure writes:
Readers may also be interested to know that this area is the source of the stone for the Tomb of the Unknowns in Washington DC. The local miners at Marble, Colorado have offered to replace the original stone which has begun to crack without cost. The replacement pieces, in fact, have been quarried (I saw it), but Washington won’t accept it without competitive bids.
Footnotes
- Lord of Leisure was previously known in these posts as Mr. Science. Both Lord of Leisure and Mr Science spend most of their time disguised as Neil Ellis, mild-mannered, retired teacher at a great suburban school system, who can identify a bird by its call, complete the New York Times Friday Crossword in ink, and snap a heck of a photo.↩
