Cream, Twice Please
Heck of a Guy Blog Surprising Fact of the Day:
I smile - because it makes me feel happy.
Those unfamiliar with me may not be impressed but those who know how cynical and dour my baseline psychological site is (between the fits of rage and those periods of manic acceleration), will be amazed at the notion that a bit of music plus audience interaction inevitably cheers me up.
Moreover, my rigorous research (I played the entire song for Lady Lawanda and slowly and distinctly asked for her opinion) demonstrates that everyone (or at least Lady Lawanda) reacts to this performance as I do.
The Performance
While “Cream” is a dandy song, it’s the bit of stage business with the Las Vegas crowd that makes it effective and special.1
For the purpose of comparison, check out this rendition of Cream” with the fourth wall intact.
It’s interesting, sexy, and sounds good to boot - but it’s not reliably smile-inducing or charming.
And, now listen to the same number as performed at the Las Vegas concert - and get ready to smile
Footnotes
- Prince used this same audience interaction performance of “Cream” at other concerts. It seemed to work best in Las Vegas. ~back~
