Kiwis Cuckoo For Cohen
Yesterday, Leonard Cohen gave a concert in Wellington, New Zealand that Simon Sweetman reviewed in the Dominion Post.1 Pertinent excerpts of that review follow:
Headline: Cohen’s Concert The Best Gig Ever
Final Line: It is hard work having to put this concert in to words so I’ll just say something I have never said in a review before and will never say again: this was the best show I have ever seen.
In Between: … living legend … adoring audience … immortal paeans, prayers and odes float from the stage … perfectly pitched backing vocalists … sound is stunning in a venue that is so often awful for concerts … reverence and reverie … stunning as poetic recital … beguiling grace … series of encores…
Sound familiar?

So Mr Cohen,
How do you captivate those who have loved your music faithfully from the moment we first heard
how you tortured the dress that she wore and laughed as only twenty four year olds can when they just do not believe primal wails of self pity
but forgive and love you anyway? Yes the Auckland night was the best concert I have ever heard and now the circle of time is complete since I saw you in Sydney all those years ago.
Yes the world is divided ,those who think you are a crashing bore and those who will go where you go to the end of time. Thank you Mr Cohen ever a prince from the tribe of Levite.
Just leave it so.
