The Partisan Highlight Of July 7, 2009 Paris (Bercy) Concert
It is no surprise that The Partisan was, by consensus of concert-goers, again the highlight of a Paris concert by Leonard Cohen. Avalanche, another favorite, in this venue was also well received.
Leonard Cohen – The Partisan (Paris Bercy – July 7, 2009)
Leonard Cohen – Anthem (Paris Bercy – July 7, 2009)
A locale-specific special touch was Cohen’s addition of a line to his usual set of blessings:
Il y a longtemps que je t’aime, jamais je ne t’oublierais1

- Quote is from Who by fire from LeonardCohenForum who identifies the line as the opening of À la claire fontaine, the traditional French/Canadian children’s folk song. Reader Sally Hunter offers a genreal translation: “A long time ago I loved you, I will never forget.” ↩
- The Paris setlist is similar to Cologne’s, with Avalanche and Tower Of Song added and A Thousand Kisses Deep removed↩
