Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather. ~John Ruskin

Leonard Cohen – Virtuoso Of Venues1
I have long thought that Leonard Cohen is the kind of artist who performs best in a small theater2 with exquisite acoustics, comfortable seating, well managed lighting, and downright luxurious climate control.
It is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore the evidence that this belief is, if not erroneous, at least suspect. During the 2009-2009 World Tour, two of Cohen’s most memorable concerts have been last year’s show in the rain at the unattractive stadium in Dublin3 and the Coachella concert.4
More recently, the Weybridge show, which appears to have been held in a gale, has been described as spectacular.
Happily for those attending last night’s Langesund concert, Cohen proved himself a superb performer capable of overcoming the perfect weather and blissful setting to give, by all accounts, an excellent performance.
