Albert Noonan and His Contribution To Cohen World
While his exploits and expertise in recording the performances of Leonard Cohen on video have been ongoing and well documented,1 Albert Noonan, in capturing the Video Of New Leonard Cohen Song From The Chicago Concert and uploading it within hours of its completion has provided an incredible service to the community of Leonard Cohen fans that both epitomizes and surpasses his earlier efforts.
The Order Of Leonard Award
One benefit of running a blog is the obviation of committees, polls, protocols, and the other detritus generated by the vastly overrated institution of democracy. In the Land Of Blogs, when an award is obviously indicated, an award can be immediately established and, in an instance, bestowed. Thus it is that …
In appreciation of Albert Nooan’s outstanding record of reliably documenting in high quality video the performances from the Leonard Cohen World Tour concerts he has attended at his own cost and sharing those videos with the world without compensation other than the gratitude of those of us who find Leonard Cohen’s music insightful, significant, and resonant with our lives, and in recognition of the enjoyment his video of Leonard Cohen’s latest song has triggered throughout the world, Heck Of A Guy confers upon him the first
Order of Leonard Award

I like your stalin-like approach to order, reward & bestowing medals there, Heck. Congrats to Albert. The Leonard image looks suitably “heroised” too – thick of neck & flat of head. Suitably Francohenstein in overall effect.
Thanks Albert for your generosity! I am unable to afford the experience in the present economy, and I do so much appreciate your kindness and selfless sharing. Muah! XXOOO
Do you know anything about the intertwined hearts/six-pointed star design?
The best discussion of the United Heart symbol I know is the one offered by Tom Sakic in a post at LeonardCohenForum: http://www.leonardcohenforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=8075&p=77383#p77383
Thanks, DrHGuy, good thread. Somehow I’m not surprised to see kabala mentioned; Cohen’s lyrics seem to be in the vein of the “shards of light” or divine “sparks” the medieval mystics talked about — a glimpse of the divine, but maddeningly incomplete — although it’s not clear to me if he had any formal introduction to kabala.
The woven hearts design reminds me a little (but maybe not that much, after all) of the Scandinavian hearts we used to make back in the 60s:

Even more interesting, I just came across this discussion of the Take This Waltz lyrics via the latest “Whose is this song?” post at languagehat.com

Cohen is without question The Bard.
