Leonard Cohen +Your Computer = Exponential Iconicity
Now, you can do in minutes what it took his record company decades to accomplish1 – make Leonard Cohen an icon.
Say you have, for example, a folder with the snappy title, “Sample Folder,” that is designated on your computer desktop by the default Windows folder icon (or the similar Mac folder icon) shown in the top left corner of the graphic below. A few clicks and – voila! – that generic folder icon is replaced by a fedora, a unified heart symbol, Leonard Cohen himself, or any of the 12 icons2 in this set.3
Download Windows or Mac icons as appropriate, unzip the icon files, and you’re good to go.4

- At least one and perhaps more of the items in this set feature graphics that are too small or complex to serve as optimal icons. The “blouse-monkey” icon, for example, is difficult to make out unless one is already familiar with the image. In those cases, there are a significant number of fans who will indeed recognize those images.↩
- These icons can also replace program icons, standard icons for recycle bins, network, computer, etc. Folder icons, however, are perhaps the easiest to change.↩
