Revisions Made To The Other Leonard Cohen Album

Improved Recordings Of To Love Somebody & Do I Have To Dance All Night

DrHGuy’s compilation of unreleased Leonard Cohen songs,1 The Other Leonard Cohen Album2 (AKA The Other Songs Of Leonard Cohen) has proved especially popular among fans who have downloaded it by the hundreds since it was posted six weeks ago at Now Available  –  The Other Leonard Cohen Album.

During that six weeks, however, recordings of “To Love Somebody” and “Do I Have To Dance All Night (1976)” that are of higher quality than the versions of those same songs songs featured on The Other Leonard Cohen Album have become available.

As explained at , Drive-In-Freak generously provided a tweaked version of the 1976 rendition of “Do I Have To Dance All Night,” featuring Laura Branigan as backup vocalist for Leonard Cohen, that is a significant improvement over the previously used MP3 file.

Similarly, the audio portion of “Leonard Cohen’s “ To Love Somebody (Eppelheim 1980),”  a video from messalina79 that was featured in Leonard Cohen Covers The Bee Gees “To Love Somebody,” is of higher quality than the version originally used in The Other Leonard Cohen Album compilation.

The Revised Other Leonard Cohen Album Files

Consequently, the higher quality versions of the two songs indicated, “Do I Have To Dance All Night (1976)”  in Vol 1 and “To Love Somebody”  in Vol 2, have replaced the previous MP3 files of those songs.3

A few other, much less significant changes have also been made. Each download, for example, now includes a separate track list with the origins of the files.

Again, the other 17 songs in this collection sound exactly as they did in the previous downloads; only “Do I Have To Dance All Night (1976)”  in Vol 1 and “To Love Somebody” in Vol 2 are different.

While the track lists, shown below, are identical, the tags for the two replacement songs differ modestly from their previous texts.  The Artist designation for “Do I Have To Dance All Night (1976)” now reads “Leonard Cohen with Laura Branigan” and the Name designation for “To Love Somebody” now reads “To Love Somebody (Bee Gees Cover).”
