An Intimate View Of An Intense Leonard Cohen

As indicated by the title of this post and evidenced by the screen captures (click on images for best viewing)  from the video, this is a particularly up close and personal view1 of Leonard Cohen singing “The Partisan” at the September 21, 2010 Marseille concert.

While  videos with  such a close perspective are too often no more than methodological or technological novelties, this recording of Cohen’s performance of “The Partisan” invites intimacy and effectively displays the concentration, intensity, and focus of a singer completely given over to his song.

  1. I am at a loss to explain why none of the reviews and reports of this  concert mentioned the videographer clinging to Cohen’s bolo tie as he shot this performance. []

  1. Cool video. You can clearly see the “Stetson” imprint on the hat band at 1:35 and 1:55.

  2. thanks for the comments . i’m the guy that shot this video . i didnt think you could get away with doing that from the very front row- but if you can you can really get close up .i agree leonard seems to be intensely ‘ there’ every moment .
