Exquisite Photos Illuminate Video
Only a few hours ago, Oliver Morris uploaded a video featuring an audio recording of Chelsea Hotel #21 set to his own black and white photos of Leonard Cohen, most of which are part of a series cataloged in Getty Images as “Portrait of Leonard Cohen, Canadian poet and singer-songwriter, plays some of his songs in a small recording studio, lower Manhattan, New York, mid 1980s.”
The photos, as one might expect, are especially acute aesthetically and offer a degree of resolution not typically seen seen in standard cut and paste music videos. In the unenhanced screen capture above, for example, note the clearly viewable inscriptions inside Cohen’s guitar and the indentation from the guitar string on his left thumb.
It is a treat.
