The Cohen Recumbency
The Old Ideas album cover showing Leonard Cohen comfortably at ease in his lawn chair (could anyone else perched on a wooden chair on his front lawn in the bright L.A. sunshine while attired in a black suit and fedora be described as “comfortably at ease?”) sparked the realization that those photos of him in a recumbent mode are not only interesting but also peculiarly revealing.
Augmenting that perception with the principle that nothing succeeds like excess – except organized excess – I enlisted a willing Dominique BOILE as co-conspirator to put together the Recumbency Of Leonard Cohen collection, which has been organized into categories and subcategories and is now on exhibition at the DrHGuy site.
While I’ve included a few images from the collection below, there are many, many more, some of which were previously unknown to me at the links below.

Thank you Allen for this very flamboyant pic. I love it, I will get a bigger print of it.
I like this shot as well and have used it a couple of times before, most recently as a Thanksgiving Day Parade float http://drhguy.posterous.com/thanksgiving-2011
ah, they’re just great thinking positions! When body and mind are working in perfect co-ordination……well, we all know the result of that now don’t we! He just keeps on keeping on.
Thanks Allan and Dominique for these candid shots!
