Ongoing readers will be familiar with this introduction to the Leonard Cohen’s Jukebox series of posts at Heck Of A Guy:
Biggest Influence on My Music – The jukebox. I lived beside jukeboxes all through the fifties. … I never knew who was singing. I never followed things that way. I still don’t. I wasn’t a student of music; I was a student of the restaurant I was in — and the waitresses. The music was a part of it. I knew what number the song was.

Another worthy project — and it comes in parts, spreading out enjoyment! Thank you.
The second song of Leonard Cohen’s jukebox, “Unchained Melody” is a 1955 song with music by Alex North and lyrics by Hy Zaret. Zaret also wrote lyrics for an English translation of the French Resistance song “The Partisan” (aka “The Song of the French Partisan”), which was later covered by Leonard Cohen. Interesting link.
Well, I’m flummoxed. When I go through the playlist, the second song I get is “Unchained Melody” by the Righteous Brothers. The playlist’s direct link to the video is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-idDbIfGvw&list=PLD43825F944A7640A&index=2&feature=plpp_video
