The 1977 Leonard Cohen Singer Musician Poet Novelist Canadian Jacket Press Photo
Several of the newspapers I used to read had a tradition of “Sunday Pictorials.” So, when this Leonard Cohen photo (click on image to enlarge) serendipitously showed up on eBay this morning, the idea of posting it – for no other reason than it’s an interesting photo of the Canadian singer-songwriter – was irresistible.
While I am in accord with most of the official description, “1977 Leonard Cohen Singer Musician Poet Novelist Canadian Jacket Press Photo,”1 I wonder if the 1977 date is derived from the stamp on back of the photo (see date on lower right of back of photo sheet below). Going by my incredibly limited experience, these dates are often the dates the photo was published rather than the date when they were taken. I haven’t found independent documentation of the date or the identity of the photographer.
