Suspicions Raised – Municipal Rivalries May Have Lowered Leonard Cohen’s Halden Concert Rating

The Cohen Civil War: Halden Vs Fredrikstad

Upon reading the preceding post, Yikes – Leonard Cohen 2012 Halden Concert Rated Only 5 On 1-6 Scale, Henry Tengelsen has alerted us to a possible motivational factor at play in the otherwise inexplicable 5 of 6 ranking given the August 29, 2012 Leonard Cohen Old Ideas World Tour Concert in he review published by the Fredriksstad Blad.  Henry writes:

Note that the report is written for a local newspaper in Fredrikstad .. a neighbouring city to Halden. They may be jealous over the fact that Leonard didn’t visit Fredrikstad .. and chose Halden instead

Our Norwegian correspondent goes on to point out that the entire front cover of Halden Arbeiderblad, the local newspaper in Halden, is given over to Leonard Cohen. And, as one can observe on that cover, the red die over Mr Cohen’s left shoulder shows SIX pips – the perfect score one has come to expect from such performances.

Heck Of A Guy  will not stoop to deprecating speculations1  about the lacunae in municipal morality that apparently afflict Fredrikstad. Nor will we call for the clearly indicated investigation into the journalistic integrity of any music critic writing for a periodical based in that city.

We do, however, proclaim our gratitude for the upholders of truth and justice – Thank goodness for the Halden Arbeiderblad, champion of  judgement, probity, and rectitude.
