Leonard Cohen Berlin Concert Videos: Alexandra Leaving And Save The Last Dance

Sharon Robinson’s “Alexandra Leaving” Soars
Save The Last Dance & Blessings Close Show

Both of these videos from the Sept 5, 2012 Leonard Cohen Berlin concert feature full stage views, albeit not from the same location. The recording of Sharon Robinson’s invariably stellar performance of “Alexandra Leaving” was taken from further back in the audience while the recording of “Save The Last Dance” (foreshortened because of curfew) was accomplished from much closer range, the consequence, I suspect, of the videographer joining the traditional running of the fans, the rush of the audience to the barriers in front of the stage during  the encores.

One Response to Leonard Cohen Berlin Concert Videos: Alexandra Leaving And Save The Last Dance

  1. A note to the last phrase: in Berlin it began much earlier, in the middle of 2nd set, and had the special phase that should be called crawling of the fans. I moved forward during the last chords of I’m Your Man and found myself sitting on one of three stone steps behind the massive chain (on the bottom one, i.e. the 3rd row). I believe, Ilia and me were the first (probably, the only) guys from the official front row greedy enough to exchange our wonderful seats to the cold stone before the madness began.
The running took place exactly after the enthusiastic Hallelujah, instead of normal Take This Waltz. Was lucky enough to notice the initial signs of the movement and appeared in the first row. Still sitting first row, anyway during the introduction of the band everyone around was standing.
