Leonard Cohen Q&A – Q Magazine 1994

Note: While I usually post graphics of original, hard to find articles about Leonard Cohen at DrHGuy, “Q Questionnaire – Leonard Cohen” published in the September 1994 edition of Q Magazine has long been one of my favorites, so I am posting it here as well as Heck Of A Guy’s sister site.

The snarky, sexist introduction of the article follows:

“All you ever give me is questions, questions,” sang Spandau Ballet’s Tony Hadley. As we pause to reflect upon what the Old Foghorn was on about, wound this month’s questionnaire victim please get in the stirrups …

Leonard Cohen is, however, rarely the victim in an interview. While some queries evoked straightforward historical data from Cohen, he transformed many of the the questions presented him into straight lines for clever and funny comebacks. The most popular Cohen quote ever posted on this web site, for example, comes from this piece:

Q: Pick five words that describe yourself.

A: Oh, The Seven Deadly Sins.

While the text of the Q&A itself (sans introduction and photo) has been available at the indispensable Speaking Cohen site, it’s a treat to see the article in its original format.
