Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: “Leonard Cohen will appear at Milwaukee Theatre in March”

Excerpts from the Jan 9, 2013 Milwaukee Journal Sentinel story, Leonard Cohen will appear at Milwaukee Theatre in March by Piet Levy follow:

Leonard Cohen, one of the most poetic and seminal songwriters of his generation, will make a rare local appearance at the Milwaukee Theatre at 8 p.m. March 15. It will be his first concert here in 38 years.

Tickets, at $55 to $250 excluding service charges, go on sale at 10 a.m. Jan. 18 at the box office, 500 W. Kilbourn Ave., at select Walmart stores, (800) 745-3000 and ticketmaster.com.

… local concert promoter and Cohen fan Peter Jest, who runs the east side music venue Shank Hall, had begun a years-long quest with Cohen’s manager and tour promoter AEG Live to bring Cohen back to Milwaukee.

Cohen’s manager and AEG finally relented in December, swapping out another city to make the Milwaukee date possible, Jest said, and invited him to be a partner for the local show.

The Milwaukee concert is part of a 19-date second leg of Cohen’s “Old Ideas World Tour,” following the release of his 2012 album “Old Ideas.”
