Sylvie Simmons’ Leonard Cohen Biography To Be Released On Audio

I’m Your Man: The Life of Leonard Cohen will be released as an audio book by Ecco/Harper Collins (publishers of the print version of the book). The recording will begin in March with the finished product going on sale in May.

Sylvie Simmons, author of the popular Cohen biography, reports that the narrator selected for the project is

Josh Pollock, an actor and very fine musician of the rock / experimental variety, who is currently playing in the new stage production of Woyzeck in Berkeley.

He’s done various ads in the past – this will be his first book. I’m sure he’ll do a great job, not just because of the tone of his voice, which has a sense of warmth and irony, but because of his knowledge of music and musicians, as well as literature, and a real interest in the subject.

Okay, then… I wanted it to be Sylvie, but what she’s said makes good sense, so I’m okay with its being Josh Pollock.

  2. I agree with Lizzytish — had hoped for Sylvie to do the reading, but maybe Josh does not have an English accent :-)

Look forward to purchasing and loading onto my ipod and ipads.

Thanks for the heads up good Doctor. We were wowed by Sylvie’s interview Wednesday evening at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City. In addition to entertaining explanations of material in her biography, Sylvie treated the appreciative audience to a great cover of Famous Blue Raincoat, accompanying her self with uke. Thanks Sylvie!
